About SHAHKAR
Shahkar (SSSRO) is a distinguished non-political, non-profit, and non-governmental local organization established in 2013 and registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan. Founded by a group of highly educated and determined Afghan youth, Shahkar is now evolving as a women-centered organization, committed to defending the rights and opportunities of Afghan women and girls. Shahkar envisions a future where women play a central role in the development and prosperity of their communities. Our mission is to empower women and girls through innovative programs and initiatives in poverty alleviation, human development, capacity building, health, education, research, environment, and climate change. By addressing gender disparities and fostering inclusive practices, Shahkar works to amplify women’s voices and leadership across all aspects of society. We are dedicated to creating sustainable economic opportunities that actively engage women as producers, employees, consumers, and entrepreneurs. Through targeted interventions, Shahkar seeks to alleviate poverty, build resilience, and promote gender equity, ensuring that Afghan women and girls are empowered to lead, thrive, and drive meaningful change in their communities.
